![]() ![]() It was actually easy getting it running on my mac. Things like siteslurper are fine for sites like subclub (which clearly is not adding new content) but I really like how httrack can update your mirror of a site. Ya you are right, apps like siteslurper cannot do all the stuff that httrack can do. OK we are getting a bit OT (like that ever happens around here - wait, I should mention how it will be skateboarding season soon ) )īut thanks for pointing out httrack Francois. I run Wine on my linux box and it probably runs 90% of all windows software. There doesn't seem to be many programs that do what Httrack does on the Mac.īut you could probably get it running using Winebottler I will expand the pen articles on camera-wiki instead of just whinging about sites going up and down ) The subclub which is full of a lot of great info was only a bit more than 15 negs I think. While I use some Linux boxes I do not as my desktop and htttrack is not avail on OS X but a quick search revealed sitesucker which seems to work OK too.Īs a few folks have mentioned some sites they like disappearing, iit is probably a good idea to archive a site u like. I usually rely on the somewhat incomplete wayback machine. ![]() Ya thanks Francois a out pointing out htttrack. Since is such a basic static site utilities like that seem to work well. This software is really easy to use and in 5 clicks you can setup the crawl depth, the save path and the type of media you want to save.We have a specific category on half frame.įrancois, thanks for letting me know about httrack, I remember using a CLI type program on BSD to do that in the beginning of the modern internet. The chrome extension Singlefile that is easy to use only saves what's on the monitor and is not a crawler that goes through all the links.Įdit: Cyotek Webcopy was the answer. Wail/WARC was also something I was thinking about but it is also too complicated (At least to read the websites afterward). Wget is too complicated for him, then I was thinking of httrack but it is still not a one-click solution. His hobby is old pictures of everything from France ( like 1850-1945) and he wants to archive whole websites because there's a high chance someone will forget to pay for the server space and they will disappear forever. And he asked me how to save entire websites for archiving purposes. I love him very much but I also know that I can't explain to him wget. My father is a bit of a technology "illiterate", he's 60+, types with 2 fingers and doesn't understand there's a middle mouse button. Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '”
